Comme des Garçons Play x Converse Chuck Taylor All Star ’70 Polka Dot Sneakers

Designer Shoes

Converse’s Chuck Taylor All-Stars are the epitome of casual street-style sneakers, wearable and accessible to the everyday girl or guy next door. Pair that up with the iconic Comme des Garçons’ Play, sprinkle on some polka dots and you’ve got yourself these most covetable kicks.

Not new to the fashion scene, this dynamic pairing has been around for quite some time, with a rendition in the Pro Leather silhouette released in 2013 and 2015, while the edition of the Chucks sans polka dots are already a staple at most Comme Des Garcons Play boutiques.

A hot favourite, the Play Converse Polka Dot Chuck Taylor All Star ’70 comes in low-cut or high-cut versions in black or white. It currently retails at SGD190 for the low, and SGD200 for the high, both of which cost the same as the Play Converse Chuck Taylor All Star ’70, so why not get the version with dots – more bang for your buck, no?

The good news? The shoes have officially launched at the Comme des Garcons Pocket (Como House) and Comme des Garcons Hilton Shopping Gallery. Or, if you prefer to let your fingers do the shopping, head online to Dover Street Market Singapore’s online store where these are stocked (click here to shop), along with lots of other cool stuff.

Available in sizes for both men and women, these will also be ideal for those who are into ‘couple wear’. A word of advice though? No.

Christian Louboutin unveils fall-winter 2016 lookbook

Christian Louboutin unveils fall-winter 2016 lookbook

Famed shoe designer Christian Louboutin brings on the shine for his fall-winter 2016 collection. The lookbook photographed by Sofia & Mauro features models against a glittery backdrop with glam rock inspired styling. The fall season focuses on 70’s graphic color combinations, high platforms, winged boots and embellished anklestraps. Louboutin found himself thinking back to his younger days, partying at hangouts like Le Palace discotheque for the new season;s inspiration.

Louboutin says, “It was a period where it was fun to have an attitude instead of trying to look very normal—people were showing off a bit, being a bit loud. They had an attitude, were proud of having an attitude and played with it, they were playing with their own femininity.”

It’s a perfect desk-to-dinner companion, any time of year.” – Tory Burch
The Gigi Pump will be available from August at both The Dubai Mall & City Walk Boutiques.

When I first signed up for Gilt, I think in 2016 sometime, I thought it was so cool. I remember waiting each morning for the deal alerts and getting annoyed the days I had early morning class in grad school, because it meant I’d miss the 9 AM sales. I bought a few items, and was excited for them to come…and then each time, it was kind of like, “ehh”. And plus it was such a hassle to return, I never did.

Stuart Weitzman Cork Sandals, on sale at Last Call

Then there was Haute Look….and Rue La La…and then the Neiman Marcus “Dashes” or what not…and more and more . And my inbox kept getting more and more annoying each day. And finally, I think when I was waiting for an email about a job interview and kept refreshing and refreshing, only to get more shopping emails, I finally went on a rage induced unsubscribe spree. And I haven’t really shopped at those sites actively since.

I kind of miss it though. Every once in a while I’ll Google some item I’m looking for…and find out that it was available on one of those sites for really cheap, but like three months ago. Wouldn’t it have been cool, to get that deal?

Anyway, because of my pregnancy and rapidly expanding weight, I’ve been on an accelerated mission to find comfortable sandals. I had mentioned earlier how much I love these Stuart Weitzman metallic sandals. I’d probably splurge on them full price, but I’ve been frightened off by friends who delight in recounting to me how their feet, and thus shoe sizes, permanently increased after pregnancy. I decided to hunt for a pair of similar sandals on all of these discount sites…and was thrilled (!) when I spotted the pair above on Neiman Marcus Last Call. For more than half off. Wow. Maybe I should be trawling these sites more often?

My sandals arrived about two weeks later and I tried them on and loved them. Emboldened by my success, I later went back onto Last Call, Gilt, Haute Look, just to have a look. But again, I couldn’t find anything.

Did you used to, and do you still shop regularly on these type of discount sites? If so, I’d love to hear your experiences and any tips for success!
